– With less than two years to go until Britain is due to leave the European Union, there’s still a lot of work to be done before a deal on the country’s future relations with the EU is reached, Reuters reports. “There remains a lot of work to do and either outcome is still possible,” a British government official says. “In particular, the differences on fisheries and the level playing field remain significant.” According to the Telegraph, the main sticking point revolves around Britain’s ability to strike a trade deal with the EU after it leaves the bloc. Britain wants to keep close ties to the EU’s single market and customs union, while the EU wants to keep access to the UK’s lucrative single market.
