⁍ England’s COVID-19 smartphone app does not accept test results processed in the country’s state-run laboratories, hospitals or as part of an official survey.

⁍ Department of Health said it was urgently working to fix the problem.

⁍ If someone then tests positive for COVID-19, they can share the result anonymously with their close contacts, who will each receive an alert and will have to isolate for 14 days.

– A new app designed to help people track whether they’re infected with West Nile virus is proving a bit of a headache for British health officials, Reuters reports. The NHS COVID-19 app, which launched this week, allows people to track whether they’re infected with the virus by using Bluetooth signals to log when they’re in close contact with someone with the virus. If they get a positive test, their close contacts will receive an alert and they’ll have to isolate for 14 days. But the app doesn’t accept test results processed in state-run labs, hospitals, or surveys conducted by the Office for National Statistics, the Department of Health says. “We are working urgently to fix the problem and anyone testing positive will still be contacted by the Test and Trace team,” the department says.
