– A global alliance of mayors has started listing Taiwanese cities as belonging to China, angering the island’s government, Reuters reports. “Taiwan is Taiwan. China is China. Taiwan is not a city of China’s,” Taiwan’s Premier Su Tseng-chang told reporters. “If there is incorrect usage we think this is extremely improper.” Six Taiwanese mayors have asked the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy to change its name, or they will quit the group. The group says it has no plans to change its name. “Since our inception, we have designated cities in accordance with international practices and this has not changed since,” it said in a statement. “We have received and are evaluating the request from the six mayors.”
