– President Trump said Sunday the US is “looking at it very strongly” in an attempt to stop violence between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Reuters reports. “We have a lot of good relationships in that area,” Trump said in a press briefing. “We’ll see if we can stop it.” The violence between the two ex-Soviet republics, which fought a war in the 1990s, left at least 16 military and several civilians dead on Sunday in the heaviest clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan since 2016, reviving concerns about stability in the South Caucasus, a corridor for pipelines carrying oil and gas to world markets.
