⁍ SoftBank’s robotics arm said it will bring a food service robot developed by California-based Bear Robotics to Japan.
⁍ The robot named Servi will act as a sort of waiter, using its layers of trays to carry food and drinks.
⁍ The launch comes as companies are scrambling to employ technology to offer contactless service.
– Japanese tech company SoftBank Group plans to introduce a new kind of robot waiter in January, the Wall Street Journal reports. It’s called Servi, and it’s basically a food-carrying robot with all the tech one would expect in a waiter: 3D cameras, Lidar sensors, trays, and, of course, trays of food. According to Reuters, the 9-foot-tall robot will cost about $950 per month for a three-year plan. The robot was developed in California by Bear Robotics.
