⁍ SEAT has seen an uptick in demand despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
⁍ Sales in September could surpass those in the same month of 2019.
⁍ Wayne Griffiths was last week named SEAT’s new chairman.
– Pandemic No. 19 isn’t taking a toll on sales of new cars in Spain, where Volkswagen’s SEAT brand is based. “We are having a very good September,” Wayne Griffiths, incoming chairman of the company, tells Reuters. “And the fourth quarter is looking good both for SEAT and CUPRA, because I think that with our investments in new products we are in a great position to start to grow again when the market starts to come back.” Sales of SEAT and its sports car brand, CUPRA, are up 20% in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period a year ago, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Spanish car industry as a whole is enjoying its best year in more than a decade, with sales up 4.5% in the first half of the year, the Journal notes.
