⁍ Many more British companies reported a fall in sales over the past three months than experienced an upswing.
⁍ The BCC’s quarterly economic survey showed that 46% of firms surveyed reported that sales had fallen over the quarter.
⁍ The hospitality and catering sectors were the most likely to report a further fall in sales.
– The British Chambers of Commerce is out with its quarterly report on the UK economy, and it’s not good news. “Economic conditions remained exceptionally weak in the third quarter,” says BCC economist Suren Thiru, per Reuters. The news isn’t much better in the US, either, with the Commerce Department reporting Thursday that new home sales fell for the first time in four months in August, reports the Wall Street Journal.
