⁍ Margaret Ferrier learned that her test was positive on Monday after she had spoken in Britain’s parliament at Westminster.
⁍ She said it was a mistake to have travelled to London earlier on Monday.
⁍ Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon slammed Ferrier for her ‘utterly indefensible’ actions.
– Margaret Ferrier traveled from London to her home in Scotland on Tuesday despite having tested positive for a virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea, the Guardian reports. According to Reuters, it’s mandatory in England for people to self-isoolate if they test positive for coronavirus. But Ferrier, a Scottish National Party lawmaker, says it was a mistake to travel to Scotland after she felt unwell and took a test for COVID-19 on Saturday. “I traveled home by train on Tuesday morning without seeking advice,” she says in a statement. “This was wrong and I am sorry.” Ferrier was suspended by her party on Thursday. “It’s hard to express just how angry I feel on behalf of people across the country making hard sacrifices every day to help beat COVID,” Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon tweeted. “The rules apply to everyone and they’re in place to keep people safe.”
