– The Justice Department has filed criminal charges against four founders and former executives of BitMEX, accusing them of failing to take enough steps to stop money laundering at the virtual currency exchange, the New York Times reports. According to Reuters, prosecutors say BitMEX’s founders, Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed, as well as its first employee, Gregory Dwyer, were each charged with violating the Bank Secrecy Act and conspiring to violate that law.
