– The latest round of Brexit talks wrapped up Friday in Brussels, with European Union leaders warning that the next two weeks will be pivotal in determining whether Britain can move on to the next phase—the negotiations leading up to the country’s departure from the EU in March—or be swept up in a “stunning collapse.” The European Parliament was told by EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier that the latest round of negotiations had made some progress, but there were still “a lot of open issues,” a source tells Reuters. Among them were state aid and level-playing-field guarantees for the fisheries, energy procurement, and carbon pricing industries.
