⁍ AMC Theatres joins a handful of cinemas letting customers rent out auditoriums for private screenings.

⁍ Rates start at $99, excluding tax, and increase to $349 depending on the movie, the theater’s location and other add-ons.

⁍ It’s part of the theater chain’s effort to remain afloat this year as the Covid-19 pandemic contributes to record industry losses.

– If you can’t make it to a movie in an AMC theater because of the H1N1 virus, you can at least score a private viewing at one of the chain’s venues for the low, low price of $99. Or, if you’d rather, you can just shell out $349 for the privilege of seeing a movie in an auditorium with 20 or more people, CNNMoney reports. The chain is offering the option in most states, except for New York, Alaska, and Hawaii. The move is part of AMC’s attempt to stay afloat— revenues fell 22% in the second quarter compared to the same quarter last year, and the company could run out of money by the end of the year.
