⁍ Impossible Foods’ faux beef burgers will be sold in grocery stores in Hong Kong and Singapore starting Tuesday.

⁍ Its Asian launch comes as the maker of plant-based meat said it was still awaiting approval from Chinese regulators.

⁍ In September, rival Beyond Meat BYND.O said it had signed a deal to open a production facility near Shanghai.

– Burger lovers in Asia will soon be able to get their hands on a burger made out of genetically modified yeast. Impossible Foods has started selling its burgers in 200 grocery stores in Hong Kong and Singapore, Reuters reports. The company’s key ingredient is heme, made from genetically modified yeast, but it still needs approval from Chinese regulators before entering the country. “We are optimistic it could happen in the next year or even in the next several months,” says CEO Pat Brown.
