– Netflix says it signed up 2.2 million new subscribers in the third quarter, a figure that fell short of analysts’ expectations and the company’s own forecast, reports Reuters. The video-streaming company said it had 195.2 million worldwide customers as of Sept. 30. That’s up 2.6% from the same period a year earlier. The company said it expects to have another 6 million subscribers by the end of the year. “We continue to view quarter-to-quarter fluctuations in paid net adds as not that meaningful in the context of the long run adoption of internet entertainment, which we believe is still early and should provide us with many years of strong future growth,” said CEO Reed Hastings in a letter to shareholders.
