⁍ U.S. President Donald Trump and his challenger Joe Biden are the stars of a new range of defecating figurines.
⁍ Known as ‘caganers’ or ‘poopers’ in English, the small statues offer a satirical take on the year’s biggest news stories.
⁍ They are traditionally hidden in nativity scenes for friends and family to find.
– It’s election time again, meaning it’s time for “caganers”—statues made of human poop that are traditionally hidden in nativity scenes. This year’s honorees are President Trump and Joe Biden, Reuters reports. The Spanish region of Catalonia has been making poopers since the 19th century, and they’re a big hit. “In these four years Trump has been an excellent caganer, I mean excellent in terms of sales,” says Marc Alos, who works at a caganer workshop in the Mediterranean town of Toroella de Montgri. “We said that the day before the US elections, and he won.” Alos says it’s too early to predict which candidate will prevail this time around. “We are at the very beginning and Joe Biden is working a little better for us, but I don’t know how this will evolve,” he says.
