⁍ The percentage of workers around the world that is permanently working from home is expected to double in 2021, according to a survey from U.S.-based Enterprise Technology Research.
– “We all thought that remote work was working, but we didn’t expect it to be this good.” That’s the takeaway from a survey of 1,200 business leaders by Enterprise Technology Research, which found that nearly half of all workers in the world are now permanently working from home, Reuters reports. The survey also found that business leaders are more optimistic about the future of remote work than they were two years ago, and they’re expecting productivity to rise by double digits over the next five years. “This is the first time that we’ve had a global estimate of the percentage of workers who are permanently working from home,” ETR’s chief strategist says. “We all thought that remote work was working, but we didn’t expect it to be this good.” According to the survey, 72% of companies in the energy, financial, and real estate industries expect to see double-digit productivity increases by 2021.
