⁍ Italy’s antitrust regulator said Ryanair, easyJet, Vueling and Blue Panorama were now offering to refund passengers whose flights they cancelled citing the coronavirus outbreak.
The decision follows an inquiry opened by the watchdog last month.
⁍ The choice to request a voucher instead of a refund would be left entirely to the consumer, the antitrust said.
– Four airlines in Italy have agreed to offer refunds to passengers who were forced to cancel flights due to the MERS outbreak, Reuters reports. According to the Telegraph, Italy’s antitrust regulator opened an investigation into the airlines last month after it found they had violated EU rules by not offering refunds to passengers who were forced to cancel flights due to the outbreak. EU rules allow airlines to offer refunds during times when government restrictions on travel are in place. According to Reuters, Italy’s antitrust regulator left it up to the passenger to request a voucher instead of a refund. The four airlines involved are easyJet, Vueling, and Blue Panorama.
