– President Trump’s tariff war with China appears to be working, at least for now. China’s official Xinhua news agency says the tariff on $200 billion in goods that went into effect Oct. 1 has been cut to $150 billion, which the Wall Street Journal reports is the lowest it’s been in more than a decade. The move is in response to the Trump administration’s decision to slap a tariff of 25% on $200 billion in goods from China, the first time that’s happened since the mid-2000s. Reuters reports that the tariff cut was announced as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Beijing on Friday to try to ease tensions between the world’s two biggest economies.
