⁍ Both sides have said they made good progress in the latest talks on a last-minute trade deal.
⁍ But fish is still the biggest sticking point.
⁍ ‘My gut instinct is that the (British) prime minister does want a deal,’ Irish PM said.
– With less than two months to go until Britain is due to leave the European Union, the latest round of Brexit negotiations appears to be making progress. “My gut instinct is that the (British) prime minister does want a deal,” Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin told an online conference, per Reuters. Martin said that Britain and the EU had made “good progress” on issues including the size of Britain’s divorce bill, the rights of EU citizens hit by Brexit, and the status of the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland, which will be the only land border between the UK and the EU after Brexit. (British Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to make a major speech on the progress of the negotiations this week.)
