⁍ Honda will pull out of Formula One at the end of 2021.
⁍ Red Bull’s preferred option would be to take over Honda’s engine.
⁍ But the rules would have to be frozen to make it affordable.
⁍ Mercedes have said they do not have the capacity to supply Red Bull.
– Honda will leave Formula One at the end of 2021, leaving just Renault and Ferrari as the only engine suppliers in the sport. Red Bull team chief Christian Horner says that’s a “big wake-up call” for the sport. “It’s a big wake-up call for Formula One to have a major manufacturer like Honda walk away from the sport at the end of 2021,” he told Sky Sports. “That leaves only three engine suppliers, and that’s a very precarious place for the sport to be.” Horner says it would be “criminal” for Honda’s engines to remain “on a shelf somewhere in a Japanese warehouse” if they weren’t supplied by Red Bull.
