– With anti-government protesters holed up on the streets of Bangkok for weeks and the Thai government cracking down hard, hostels in the capital are offering a helping hand. “I felt bad for those who didn’t have places to stay,” a 23-year-old medical student tells Reuters, offering free rooms online to protesters. “There are four people sleeping in this room,” says a 27-year-old protester. “This is my spot.” Another volunteer says about 500 people have been offered rooms since the protests began in mid-July, with protesters getting three meals a day and transportation to and from protests, reports the AP.
