– Malaysia’s king has rejected a prime minister’s request for a state of emergency in response to the MERS virus, Reuters reports. Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had asked King Al-Sultan Abdullah to declare a state of emergency to deal with the outbreak, but the king said he didn’t see the need. “The Cabinet will discuss in more detail His Majesty’s decree,” said Muhyiddin in a statement.
