– A powerful typhoon blew ashore in the Philippines on Monday, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes and leaving at least 12 fishermen missing, Reuters reports. Typhoon Molave packed winds of up to 77mph and knocked down power lines in the southern part of the country’s main Luzon island. The fishermen were supposed to return to Catanduanes province off the country’s eastern coast Monday. “They have been missing for 24 hours. They were supposed to come back home yesterday before noon,” a government official said. Molave, the 17th typhoon to hit the country this year, was moving toward Vietnam.
