⁍ French car rental company Europcar dropped its 2020 financial outlook on Monday as it posted a slump in its third-quarter results.

⁍ Europcar’s quarterly sales fell 46.7% from a year earlier to 637.2 million euros ($635.8 million), and it posted a net loss of 9.7 million euros.

⁍ Travel companies around the world have been hit by governments imposing travel restrictions to try and tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

– A French car rental company is reporting a net loss of $10 million in the third quarter because of the H1N1 flu outbreak, Reuters reports. And that’s not the only bad news for car rental companies: The H1N1 outbreak has hit other travel companies, too. According to the Wall Street Journal, Avis is one of those companies. The company’s sales fell 46.7% in the third quarter compared to the same period last year. And it’s not just the flu that’s hurting the company. It’s also the price of gas. The company’s CEO says cost-cutting efforts will save about $1 billion in 2020. But the company can’t provide full-year 2020 guidance because of the “highly uncertain business environment” caused by the H1N1 outbreak.
