⁍ Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards issued an emergency declaration for the state on Monday ahead of an expected mid-week landfall by Hurricane Zeta.
⁍ Fast-moving Zeta, which is forecast to strike Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula on Monday night, is expected to make landfall in southeast Louisiana by Wednesday night at the earliest.
– “This is the eighth state of emergency I’ve issued between COVID and storms,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said Monday, declaring a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Zeta, which is expected to make landfall in southeast Louisiana by Wednesday night, Reuters reports. The National Hurricane Center says the Category 1 hurricane, which is expected to hit Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula Monday night, has maximum sustained winds of 90mph and could strengthen to a Category 3 hurricane before it makes landfall, the AP reports.
