⁍ Siam Commercial Bank Pcl launched a food delivery platform, amid growing competition in the sector.

⁍ Thailand’s fourth-largest lender, SCB, is an investor in Go-Jek, but has said their food delivery units operate separately.

⁍ The sector is currently dominated by Singapore-based Grab, Indonesia’s Go-Jek, Foodpanda, owned by Germany’s Delivery Hero SE and Japan’s Line Man Wongnai.

– There’s a new player in the world of food delivery—and it’s based in Thailand. Siam Commercial Bank has launched the Munchery app, which allows customers to order food from local restaurants and have it delivered to their homes, Reuters reports. Munchery joins a crowded field of food-delivery apps in Thailand, including Singapore’s Go-Jek, Indonesia’s Foodpanda, and Japan’s Line Man Wongnai. Siam Commercial Bank, which is an investor in Go-Jek, says it has 10,000 delivery riders ready to go, Reuters notes. The country’s competition watchdog last week announced new rules for the industry, including requiring restaurants to give advance notice of food orders and imposing a 20% commission on users.
