On Friday, a U.S. judge in San Francisco rejected a Justice Department request to reverse her decision preventing the WeChat ban.

– A federal appeals court has rejected the Justice Department’s request to immediately ban Google and Apple from selling apps that allow users to communicate with each other in Chinese. A three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals said in a brief order that the government had not shown it would “suffer an imminent, irreparable injury during the pendency of this appeal,” which is being expedited, Reuters reports. The Justice Department had asked the court to reverse a judge’s decision blocking the ban on WeChat, a messaging app from China’s Tencent.
