⁍ Apple said in a statement that each one-hour episode would address a single issue and explore topics related to current events and Stewart’s advocacy work.
– Jon Stewart is coming back to the small screen. Apple said Tuesday that the former Daily Show host will host and produce a new current-affairs series for its Apple TV+ streaming service, Reuters reports. The multi-season series, which has yet to be announced, will focus on a single issue and explore topics related to Stewart’s advocacy work, Apple said in a statement. The company said the issues also will be discussed in a companion podcast. Stewart, who has appeared on talk shows since leaving the Daily Show and released a political comedy film this year, has advocated for wounded veterans and for healthcare benefits for first responders who became ill after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. He and his wife, Tracey, opened a farm sanctuary in New Jersey. Stewart’s new series is part of a multi-year agreement with Apple to develop and produce projects for Apple TV+, a $5-a-month competitor to subscription video services from companies such as Netflix Inc NFLX.O and Walt Disney Co DIS.N. In 2015, Stewart had signed a deal with AT&T Inc’s T.N HBO network for a short-form animated series for digital platforms, but that project was scrapped.
