⁍ Santander says it has not taken a decision on when to release next strategy plan.
– Santander, Spain’s second-biggest bank, on Friday reported a third-quarter loss of ⁇ 4.76 billion ($5.8 billion) as it took a ⁇ 4.7 billion impairment charge on the value of its British business. The bank, which has been struggling in recent years, also took a ⁇ 2.4 billion impairment charge in the third quarter of last year. The impairment charge is related to goodwill in the bank’s loan book, which was hit hard in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. The bank also took a ⁇ 1.7 billion impairment charge in the third quarter of last year on the value of its Mexican business. (This story has been corrected to show that the bank took a ⁇ 4.7 billion impairment charge in the third quarter of last year, not in the third quarter of this year.)
