– French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday announced a series of new measures designed to fight a resurgence of a highly contagious virus that has infected tens of thousands of people and killed dozens. The measures include a lockdown that will require people to stay inside their homes and only venture outside if they have a valid reason for doing so, Reuters reports. They will remain in effect until Dec. 1. Schools, universities, and state services will remain open, but cafes, restaurants, and pharmacies will be required to close if they sell essential goods, such as supermarkets and pharmacies.
