⁍ Lebanon’s influential Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said a new government could be formed within a few days if talks keep going positively.

⁍ Weeks of political dispute have delayed a deal on a new cabinet that must tackle a crippling financial meltdown.

⁍ The country is also grappling with a COVID-19 surge and the fallout of the August explosion at Beirut port that killed nearly 200 people.

– Lebanon may have a new government in place in a matter of days, reports Reuters. It’s been more than a year since Saad al-Hariri became prime minister, but the country is in the midst of its worst financial crisis since the end of the civil war. Hariri, a Sunni politician, was named prime minister last week for a fourth time, but talks have been ongoing for weeks. If a deal can be reached, a new government could be in place in “four or five days,” says parliament speaker Nabih Berri.
