– The town of Warrington, England, has been declared a “very high alert” area due to an outbreak of avian flu, making it the first town in the country to be placed on such an alert, Reuters reports. “People should try to avoid traveling outside the very high alert level or entering a very high alert level area, other than for work, education or for caring responsibilities or to travel through as part of a longer journey,” the health ministry said. Pubs and restaurants have been closed and many residents have been urged to stay inside.
