– The coronavirus that has swept the Northern Hemisphere has now killed 1,151 people and sickened more than 42.9 million around the world, Reuters reports. According to USA Today, more than 225,300 people have died in the US from the disease, which was first identified in China last year. More than 50,000 cases were reported in France on Sunday—the first time the country has hit the 100,000-case mark—and Russia saw a record 17,347 cases on Monday, making it the fourth-largest country in the world with such cases. The disease has also spread to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates. A vaccine being developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca produced immune responses in both elderly and young people, but British Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the vaccine won’t be widely available until next year.
