⁍ Polish Finance Minister Tadeusz Koscinski said he does not expect more amendments to this year’s budget.
⁍ The budget foresees a budget deficit of 109 billion zlotys in 2020.
– Poland’s ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) is facing a revolt from its own members over its handling of the country’s economic crisis, Reuters reports. The party, which came to power in the summer elections, has called for the resignation of the country’s finance minister, the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, and the head of the European Commission over the budget. PiS members say the budget, which foresees a budget deficit of 109 billion zlotys ( $37 billion) in 2020, doesn’t go far enough in addressing the country’s problems. Prime Minister Beata Szydlo says the budget doesn’t go far enough in reducing the country’s debt, which is more than 100 billion zlotys higher than the European Union’s limit. PiS members say the budget doesn’t go far enough in cutting taxes and slashing spending. But the country’s finance minister says he doesn’t expect more amendments to this year’s budget, which foresees a budget deficit of 107 billion zlotys in 2020.
