⁍ Ghana and telecoms operators Airtel and Tigo are in advanced stages of discussions.

⁍ Ghana and Airtel said on Tuesday that they planned to exit the Ghanaian telecoms market.

– Ghana’s government is in talks to buy a controlling stake in the country’s two main telecom operators in a deal that could value the firms at more than $5 billion, Reuters reports. The deal would give the government a 35% stake in Tigo, the country’s third-largest telecom operator, and a 35% stake in Airtel, which is the country’s No. 2. Ghana’s finance minister said last week that the deal could be completed by the end of the year.
