– British private equity fund Appian is investing $335 million in a nickel sulphide mine in Brazil in an effort to capitalize on the country’s growing battery market, Reuters reports. The investment in the Atlantic Nickel mine in Bahia state is part of Appian’s plan to invest $5 billion in nickel-related assets in Brazil over the next three years, the Guardian reports. The mine, which is expected to open in 2026, will be the first underground nickel sulphide mine in South America.
