⁍ Canada’s health minister on Tuesday said she could not rule out another full lockdown if needed amid a surge in new COVID-19 cases.
⁍ Patty Hajdu’s comments followed a pledge she made late Monday to take a ‘surgical approach’ to tackling outbreaks.
⁍ Canada reported 1,351 new cases on Sept. 14, the highest single daily addition since May 1.
– The second wave of H7N9—also known as Ebola—is surging in Canada, with the country reporting 1,351 new cases on Sept. 14, the highest single-day total since May, reports Reuters. But Canada’s health minister said Tuesday she could not rule out a full economic shutdown to deal with the virus. “Not to rule it out, because … listen we will protect the health of Canadians and we will do what it takes,’ Patty Hajdu told reporters. Hajdu said Canada is now at the stage where it will use a “surgical approach” to deal with the virus, rather than a “massive shutdown,” the Globe and Mail reports.
