⁍ Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said Mexico is interviewing at least six women who may have been subject to improper hysterectomies.
⁍ Ebrard called the abuse as described in a whistleblower’s complaint ‘unacceptable
– Mexico’s foreign minister says the country is investigating allegations that women being held in a US immigration detention center were given improper hysterectomies. If the allegations are true, it would be a “major issue” between the two countries, Marcelo Ebrard tells Reuters, calling the treatment of women being held in Georgia “unacceptable.” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that a whistleblower has filed a complaint with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement alleging that women being held at the Americus-area facility were given hysterectomies that were performed without their consent. Ebrard says Mexico is interviewing at least six women who may have been affected by the procedure.
