⁍ The University of Glasgow has offered a rent rebate to residents and support with securing food and medical supplies for self-isolating students.
⁍ Students travelled across the country to start university this month.
⁍ But coronavirus outbreaks have forced some colleges to ask students to self-isolate.
– Thousands of students across Britain are living in halls of residence this month as coronavirus outbreaks force schools to ask students to isolate themselves, Reuters reports. The University of Glasgow is offering students a four-week rent rebate and money toward food and clothes washing services. “We understand how difficult and stressful this situation is,” the university tweeted. “We are here to support you through it.” Some schools are even considering asking students to stay on campus over Christmas to prevent the virus from spreading. “There is no point encouraging students to come to university to self-isolate for a fortnight,” says the head of the University and College Union.
