– “We are nowhere near the end” of the coronavirus pandemic, the head of the US government’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday, contradicting President Trump’s claim that the virus is “nowhere near the end.” The head of India’s National Institute of Health tells the Times of India that coronavirus has now infected more than 6 million people around the world and killed more than 95,000 of them. India has the second-highest number of cases globally, behind the US, where more than 7 million cases have been reported, Reuters reports. India’s outbreak has been traced to a patient who had recently traveled to Saudi Arabia, where the virus is believed to have originated, the BBC reports. The patient had recently returned to India after spending time in the United Arab Emirates, where the virus is believed to have originated. India’s health minister has warned that the country could see as many as 20,000 cases a day if the current outbreak continues.
