– Lawyers for a Chinese tech exec who was arrested at the request of Canadian authorities say the US case against her is “ineffective” and “based on so many omissions and misrepresentations that it’s unreliable and ineffective.” Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of the tech firm Huawei, is fighting extradition from Canada to the US, where she is accused of violating American sanctions on Iran, reports Reuters. Lawyers for Meng, who is under house arrest in Vancouver, have wrapped up their arguments in a Canada courtroom, calling the US extradition request “ineffective” and seeking to add a new charge in their effort to stay the case. The hearings are the latest in her extradition case, which is expected to finish in April 2021.
