– Congratulations, Iga Swiatek. The 19-year-old from Poland is now the youngest woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since Monica Seles in 1992—and the first Polish woman to do so since Agnieszka Radwanska in 2012. Swiatek also became the first Polish woman to reach the French Open final in 81 years and the first woman from her country to reach any major final since Radwanska in 2012, reports Reuters. She beat American Sofia Kenin on Saturday, 6-4, 6-1, and now heads home to Warsaw on a private jet sponsored by Red Bull. Her trainer tells Reuters that Swiatek’s calm demeanor after the victory made an impression on him. “We drank to her health, which she of course refused. It made an impression on me after such a success,” he says. “Iga is a professional. If professionals were to suddenly change their behavior, or react dramatically because of such a result, that wouldn’t be good. I’m proud of her for being so calm.”
