⁍ Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kelly pulled further ahead of Arizona Republican incumbent Martha McSally.
⁍ There are about 12 competitive U.S. Senate races this year, 10 with vulnerable Republican incumbents and two with vulnerable Democrats.
⁍ To have a majority in the Senate, Democrats need to pick up three seats if the party wins the White House.
– The battle for control of the Senate is heating up. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Democrat Mark Kelly with a 52% to 41% lead over Republican Martha McSally in Arizona. That’s within the poll’s margin of error, but it’s still good news for Kelly, who was up 51% to 41% in the same poll two weeks ago. McSally is a two-term Republican incumbent. The poll also shows Democrat Gary Peters with a 52% to 44% lead over Republican John James in Michigan, while Republican Thom Tillis has a 42% to 42% lead over Democratic challenger Cal Cunningham in North Carolina. All of the races are considered competitive, meaning Democrats need to pick up three seats to gain control of the Senate.
