– The World Health Organization says it’s too early to say whether the deadly coronavirus known as COVID-19 will be a precursor to a new global order in the 21st century. But a post at TapNewsWire says it has “ultimate proof” that the disease, which has killed more than 1,000 people around the world since surfacing in 2014, is part of a conspiracy to create a new world order. The post, which warns that “no purported facts have been verified,” cites a speech by Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the world’s leading experts on the disease, in which he says COVID-19 is a “strategic plan” to create a new world order. The post also cites a song by rapper Dr Creep called “Pandemic” that includes the lyrics, ” 2020 combined with coronavirus, bodies stacking.” But Dr. Creep tells the Independent that the song was created in 2012 and “was about a bunch of viruses. Simple as that. Throw enough conspiracy theories on dozens of albums and eventually you’ll nail it.” Indeed, fact-checking group Correctiv has debunked several of the claims in the TapNewsWire post, including the claim that a patent for a testing method for COVID-19 was filed in 2015, four years before the disease was discovered, and that a tabletop exercise simulating an outbreak of the disease was held at the 2012 London Olympic Games. A fact-check at Reuters also debunks some of the claims in the TapNewsWire post.
