– Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called President Trump’s criticism of her on Saturday “incredibly disturbing” and said it was “dangerous, not just for me and my family, but for public servants everywhere who are doing their jobs and trying to protect their fellow Americans.” The Democratic governor, who was targeted by an alleged kidnapping plot, was speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, reports Reuters, after Trump called her “dishonest” and got chants of “lock her up” from the crowd at a rally in Grand Rapids. “It’s got to end,” Whitmer said. “It is dangerous, not just for me and my family, but for public servants everywhere who are doing their jobs and trying to protect their fellow Americans.” She added: “He was having fun at a Trump rally, and, quite frankly, there are bigger issues than this for everyday Americans.” Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, defended her father’s remarks on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, saying “he wasn’t doing anything, I don’t think, to provoke people to threaten this woman at all. He was having fun at a Trump rally, and, quite frankly, there are bigger issues than this for everyday Americans.”
