– Israel’s new ambassador to the US says he hopes President Trump’s push for a rapprochement between Israel and the Arab world will continue even if he loses the November election, Reuters reports. “Peace is something everybody should celebrate and see as a positive thing for the world,” Avi Berkowitz says. “It’s our sincere hope that, no matter who wins the election, the Abraham Accords will continue to grow.” The so-called Abraham Accords were signed by Israel and the United Arab Emirates last month. Berkowitz was in Bahrain on Sunday, the same day Bahrain signed a similar deal with Israel. “Our conversations with them have been positive on numerous fronts,” Berkowitz says of Saudi Arabia. “We look to them for an understanding in the region of the temperature of how things are going on numerous fronts, we’ve had very good discussions with them but time will tell.”
