– South Korea’s richest man has died at the age of 89, leaving behind a fortune worth an estimated $20.9 billion, reports Reuters. Lee Kun-hee, chairman of Samsung Electronics, was the heir to the Samsung Group, which runs the world’s biggest smartphone company and is based in Suwon, just south of Seoul. “Lee Kun-hee’s death is a great loss for South Korea and the world,” Samsung said in a statement. “But the Samsung Group will continue to be at the heart of South Korea’s economy and society.” South Korea has a 50% inheritance tax, and Lee’s fortune is expected to be subject to it.
