The 24-year-old All-Star struck out the side in the second and fourth innings, then struck out the final two batters in the sixth to surpass the record set by Gary Bell Jr. in 1960. Bieber allowed four hits over six innings but did not issue a walk. Cleveland scored both its runs in the fifth inning on Oscar Mercado’s single and Cesar Hernandez’s double. Kansas City’s Danny Duffy allowed two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings.
