⁍ Storm Hanna forecast to make landfall on Texas coast on Saturday.
⁍ Hanna could bring a life-threatening storm surge and flash flooding.
⁍ Storm is not expected to affect offshore oil and gas production.
– The first hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic season is bearing down on Texas. Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to make landfall between Corpus Christi and Brownsville today, reports Reuters. The storm is expected to be the second to make landfall along the US Gulf of Mexico this season; Tropical Storm Cristobal hit Louisiana in early June. Oil and gas production in the Gulf is not expected to be affected by the storm, and the mayor of Corpus Christi has advised residents who live in flood-prone areas to wear masks. “Take several masks with you because you might be there a couple days if you’re in a flood area,” he told the Texas Tribune. “We don’t want to expose anyone during this storm. … Even when you’re in the house, I recommend wearing a mask if you’re in crowded conditions.”
