⁍ The Treasury Department accused Tagwirei of being corrupt and helping support the government of Zimbabwe.

⁍ The action freezes any U.S. assets of Tagwirei and Sakunda Holdings, and generally prohibits Americans from dealing with them.

– The US Treasury Department on Wednesday levied sanctions on a business adviser to Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa, accusing him of using “opaque business dealings and his ongoing relationship with President Mnangagwa to grow his business empire dramatically and rake in millions of US dollars.” Kudakwashe Tagwirei “and other Zimbabwean elites have derailed economic development and harmed the Zimbabwean people through corruption,” Deputy Treasury Secretary Justin Muzinich said in a statement, per Reuters. Tagwirei is chief executive of Sakunda Holdings, and the department’s action freezes any US assets of the company and generally prohibits Americans from dealing with it.
