⁍ The National Science Foundation is also awarding $1 million to QIS education.

⁍ The initiative is designed in part to help introduce students to quantum information themes before college.

⁍ Quantum computing aims to operate millions of times faster than today’s advanced supercomputers.

– The White House is teaming up with some of the biggest names in tech—Amazon, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Boeing, and the University of Illinois—to promote quantum information science, Reuters reports. According to a White House Office of Science and Technology Policy release, the partnership with the National Science Foundation will help expand access to K-12 education for students studying quantum information science (QIS). QIS is a branch of quantum mechanics that involves the idea of using information from quantum mechanics to solve problems in the real world. It’s a promising field that could have a huge impact on everything from weather forecasting to health care. The National Science Foundation is awarding $1 million to QIS education.
